The mission of the Sea, Science and Leadership Program (SSLP) at Massachusetts Maritime Academy is to provide high school students with interactive, educational workshops that build confidence, challenge decision-making skills that develop and strengthen leadership qualities. SSLP will immerse participants in the educational and regimental lifestyles of a cadet through hands-on workshops that include the use of ship-handling simulators, small boats, an emergency management control room, engineering labs, and the 540 ft. T.S. Kennedy. SSLP will prepare participants for the college admissions process, build lifelong friendships and educate participants on the career opportunities Massachusetts Maritime Academy offers.

SSLP participants stay on campus and will experience a moderately regimented structure led by some of the Academy’s finest cadets while learning the true meaning of the cadet motto: Discipline, Knowledge and Leadership.

While at SSLP, participants will work with their peers through exercises that teach you the importance of communication, listening and camaraderie as a team. SSLP is designed to be challenging, while at the same time fun!

The SSLP registration fee of $425.00 includes your three night stay on campus, all meals, activities and your SSLP Sea-Bag with necessary supplies. Payments (check or money order, made payable to Massachusetts Maritime Academy) can be mailed to the Admissions Office, attn: Carlos Avila. Credit cards payments can be made via our Business Office webpage.
